Tips on balancing career and family

Raising well rounded kids while putting in time at the office has been a tough balancing act for working moms for years now.  Think you can have it all?  70% of mothers under the age of 18 are working.  About 31 million women as of 2013.   So how do you do it?  How do you get the kids and yourself ready for school and work in the morning?  How do you get to work on time?  Have a productive day? Get home in time to prepare dinner, homework, activities, mentor, and do it all again the next day?

Some helpful tips to balance both are important to remember:  this is a team effort with the whole family.  Think of parenting and working as a marathon, not a sprint.  You must be able to understand you will feel guilty at times.  Things will unfortunately get neglected.  Stay connected with your kids with technology.  Be a coach, not a crutch.  Worry about spending quality time with kids, not quantity time.  Talk to your kids about your problems at work.  Share with them so they feel comfortable sharing with you.  Seek a mentor for yourself.  Always best to use the wisdom from someone who has been there and done it before.
