Childproofing your home

 Most parents to be know the importance of childproofing their homes at some point.  However, when the day finally comes, are you as prepared as you need to be?  Do you know all the important steps and highlights to look out for?  The little time you spend childproofing your home now can pay dividends down the road by avoiding bumps, bruises, cuts or lacerations, or worse.  The following tips are important ways to get started:

• Install safey latches and locks on cabinets and drawers
• Use anti-scald devices
• Use safety gates at stairways and in rooms off limits
• Attach bumpers to the edges of sharp edges or furniture
• Secure all window cords and make sure they are out of reach
• Secure book cases or tipping hazards to the walls with a bracket
• Be sure to cover those electrical outlets
